what's new pussycat?

• yesterday rocketgirl and I went out and had coffee and did a bit of Christmas shopping. It was great to get out and buy new Christmas decorations for my new home! Also got a cute little leather stool which has a lid that flips over to be a serving tray, and, a laundry sorting system/basket that I put together by myself.
• past few sets of shifts at work have been emotionally stressful. not sure what the answer is but we have to figure out how to take care of our "insides" because we're quickly burning out, and the unit is only a year old!
• my g/f's hubby fixed my dryer so I've been doing loads and loads of laundy. not enjoying that it's in a closet and I don't have a separate laundry room. a new washer and dryer is on the wish list!
• have been unpacking more and more boxes. ironically, found the kitchen dishes today and guess what, they do not fit into the kitchen cupboards! is that a sign or what, to go and buy new dishes???
• the cat is much more settled and happily using his litterbox down in my daughters bathroom. not an ideal situation but I will have to make it work.
• the Christmas tree is up and slowly getting decorated it. if I say so myself, it's pretty and makes me happy. I can't wait for my daughter to come home for Christmas. I will be putting up the smaller one in the foyer.
• had an paint estimate done last week and it was waaaay more than I was expecting. trying to get a call into a friend's friend and see what their price is. would really love to get my bedroom, my daughter's bedroom and the studio done. I have three weeks vacation off at Christmas and want to set up the scrapbooking studio at that time and get BACK IN TO IT!!! I think mcbabyc and rocketgirl are going to be getting in to it as well. I can totally see having crops down there with new and old friends.
• speaking of scrapbooking, got my first parcel in the mail; the Christmas release which will allow me to make all different types of mini albums... oh the potential! super cute! and two new 4x8 fonts. happiness!

My daughter found this at Ikea the other week and I think it would be perfect to have a few for my new scrapbooking studio. Would be neat to have displays under the glass and some decorative storage on the shelves.

• Went shopping with the Trifecta yesterday and it was so good. Got quite a bit of Christmas shopping done and also ordered a couch/sectional in charcoal gray from Lazyboy and a simple bartable and stools for the kitchen nook. All should be in time for the Christmas party.
• Friday I went home and got quite a bit of errands done. Relief. Had a good visit with my mom. Went to a going away party for one of the doctors. Bittersweet; he is such a good man, fantastic doc and great friend, but this is the right move for his family. Got to catch up with lots of my work friends which made me more homesick. Unfortunately my pictures didn't turn out, not sure why. :(
• Not getting much done with the unpacking. No excuses.
• The cat is still quite jumpy and I think, quite lonely when I'm gone. Feel guilty. He cries a lot. And, pooing all over the place and today I found a huge puddle on the airbed and blankets that dd used last weekend. I HATE the smell of cat urine and it's so hard to get rid of. I'm so frustrated with his behavior. I know change is hard on cats. But gawd.......
• Ankle is really aching. I worked four dayshifts and I know that played a bit part of it. The colder temperature doesn't help. Need to lose weight. Hard.
• My daughter is ok after her car accident last week-end. I don't know what I would have done if something had happened to her. She's forbidden to drive on that highway during the winter season. The picture of her totalled truck makes me sick.
• The 8 minute drive to and from work is like a dream. So is the garage. Heaven!
• Bought a new Christmas tree. Not what I had in mind but time was getting tight and I wanted to put it up on this set of days off. Plan is to have lots of white lights and decorate with red, white and silver. Will put the smaller tree in my front foyer. Looking forward to Christmas!

Dear Santa....

• I have been in my new home for a week now. I've barely got any boxes unpacked or much cleaning or organizing done. Having a hard time finding, a lot, of things. Which frustrates me and sends me back to bed to watch tv. I do have a bit of a time constraint, as in a month, I will be having a staff holiday party. Best get some furniture!
• The few days without internet were painful but I survived. I so love my wireless and I will admit it's not the healthiest thing to have; the ability to stay in bed with the internet in your lap, tv on. All is good.
• Had to go back to work right away and it was hard, emotional. Sad time for our unit. Life isn't fair. Cancer doesn't care.
• Did get my H1N1 vaccine. Still unsure, but what is done is done. Lots of hype about it. Apparently because of my weight, I am considered higher risk. I have had so much stress and am so run down, I get every little sniffle, ache, whatnot. So, why risk this new threat?
• The cat, not adjusting so well. "Accidents" everywhere. Stays on the bed most of the time. We're both not used to the new home sounds. I moved his box downstairs where I wanted it to be yesterday, so hopefully he'll adjust and figure that out. I do not want cat pee on my bed!
• Had my lovely D&D over for chinese takeout last night. Got a little tipsy with some fancy wine they brought. Numb bums from sitting on the only chairs in the place! lol They are such an important part of my family. Even if a certain someone gives me a hard time, all the time. ;)
• Looking for a big beautiful bushy Christmas tree with LOTS of lights......
