  • my mom is coming on Sunday for a couple of days and I'm really looking forward to that. We've got a big day on Monday to get our passports and then go visit my godmother who has moved into assisted living, in the city. We haven't seen her over two years!

  • tonight is my last nightshift, long set of five. I'm thankful for the overtime I had but it's hard on the body. it's been a good set with really lovely patients and staff. am so blessed that way.

  • have someone coming tomorrow hopefully to check out my taps; hopefully it's a minor fix and I can wash up the kitchen before Mamma arrives. My bathroom needs a serious scrubbing too.

  • hope we'll have a chance on Tuesday to plant my Dahlia bulbs and maybe get some other plants for my deck. I'm a lousy gardener but I do want some pretty colourful flowers around for the summer. Have to remember to email the strata to see if they can get the gardeners to rip out the shrubs in my front and I can have a nice small area for flowers.

  • my daughter writes her last 3rd year university exam tomorrow! Hope to spend lots of time with her, even if I can't talk her into moving in with me! lol

12 Life Lessons I Learned From My Cat-

1. Pounce on opportunity. He who hesitates, misses catching the passing lizard.

2. Patience. Infinite patience...

3. Concentration. A cat studying an opportunity just beyond his grasp is the epitome of focused attention. He doesn't even blink as he tunes out all distractions. His body is completely still except for his wildly twitching tail releasing his nervous energy.

4. Nothing is worth disturbing your beauty sleep.

5. Catnap. Even a few moments of shut-eye is refreshing.

6. If you're happy, purr. Show your appreciation by letting people know that you like what they do.

7. Do cat stretches - and other yoga poses, and try Qigong. Especially as we age, gentle stretching is one of the best things we can do for our bodies.

8. Wrestle with your best friend. She likes it when you're playful.

9. Eat when you're hungry and not by the clock.

10. Ask for what you want. If you are lovable and patient, you will probably get it.

11. You can't have everything you want. If you put your claws where they don't belong, you're going to get spanked.

12. Revel in life's simple pleasures. A ball of string is magic. Catnip is heavenly.
All I need to know I learned from the Easter Bunny:

1. Don't put all your eggs in 1 basket

2. There's no such thing as too much candy

3. All work and no play can make you a basket case

4. A cute tail attracts a lot of attention

5. Everyone is entitled to a bad hare day

6. Some body parts should be floppy

7. Keep your paws off other people's jelly beans

8. Good things come in small, sugar-coated packages

9. The grass is always greener in someone else's basket

10. To show your true colours, you have to come out of your shell

  1. Had lunch with my beautiful daughter on Friday and then did a little prom dress shopping. Who knew we'd be doing this for a fourth time???

  2. Got an OT shift tonight, super pleased about that

  3. Hot water tank is in and paid for, thanks OT. Now for the plumbing issues... This stuff can really stop any time now.

  4. Raja is back to his old tricks of vomiting and pooping everywhere. He is however, happier without the plastic sheets in his litter box.

  5. Working on a Vegas layout right now, yeah!

I have awesome workmates.

Wednesday, April 20, 2011

oh, and, I strongly dislike President's Choice Ice Cream. the end.

  • I'm really hoping to get some OT over the Easter week-end. Need to be more assertive/agressive about it, as the money is so needed. Have to prepare for the upcoming surgery and such.

  • also hoping to make some cards on my days off. need some creative therapy.

  • my hot water tank blew up and thankfully a friend's husband was able to replace it for me, for a reasonable price. still have to get a plumber to check my taps in the bathroom and kitchen. dishes are piling up, excuses excuses!

  • what's with this crazy weather? I was wanting to do plants with my mom in a few weeks but with snow and hail and the coldness..... wth?

  • had a surprise visit from my daughter today and it was good for a catch up. hope to be seeing lots of her now that university is done with. would really love it if she'd move in with me. the place is big enough for the two of us to still have our independence. I'd even buy fresh fruits and vegetables!

  • work is going alright. have a heavy but lovely assignment. got to work with MsCupcake last week and again next week, which is so highly unusual. We're usually opposites of each other which makes getting the Trifecta together once a month quite tricky.

  • planning a nursing week potluck again this year with some surprises in store!

It's been said that everlasting friends go long periods of time without speaking and never question the friendship. These friends pick up like they just spoke yesterday, regardless of how long it has been or how far away they live, and they don't hold grudges. They understand that life is busy and you will ALWAYS love them.

If we want to direct our lives,we must take control of our consistent actions. It's not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives, but what we do consistently.- Anthony Robbins

How different our lives are when wereally know what is deeply important to us,and keeping that picture in mind,we manage ourselves each day to be and to do what really matters most”- Stephen R. Covey

  • spent a few hours yesterday with a friend from work, having tea at a local nursery (plants, that is). We purused the different plants and bushes and flowers, giving me ideas for my home. Even bought some bulbs to plant Mother's day for some Blackberry Cheesecake coloured Dahlias! Of course I'll be asking Mamma to do that. Thought maybe we could work on the front bed this year and eventually get the other bed ripped out and made into something mucho nicer.

  • The other day it snowed! I couldn't believe it. Big white fluffy snowflakes. Only lasted about five hours. It's spring people!

  • Got my SU order and have been playing with my goodies, making a few cards, mostly sympathy. Unfortunately.

  • Went to Ikea with MsCupcake and had a lovely time getting home ideas. Did well and came home with a small purchase. More storage for the studio.

  • I have four plastic towers that I plan on going through with a strict clean sweep. I will keep some embellishments in one black Ikea box, stickers in another, etc of things I will be able to use in the future. The rest I will donate out to the local Children's hospital. I already went into a box and found packages (and I mean packages) of acrylic stamps. Mostly unopened. Woo hoo. Just like a mini shopping trip, all over again. So many stamps still to put away as well. Just find it's so quiet and lonely down there. Really should get the mini tv hooked up for some background noise.

  • Work has been tough for the past few months and it's changed a bit now which is a relief.

been a busy few days!

  • I got my annual mammogram yesterday and ladies, it's not as bad as you think! 2 minutes and it's done.

  • Then it was off to enjoy a lovely pedicure with a great hot pink polish to top it all off. I had it all, parafin wax, scrub, massage and the rest.

  • I thought it would be fun to sneak up to home and surprise my mom for a sleepover visit; we had a great visit!

  • Today I became a blonder blonde with three inches chopped off the back and I really like the cut! Even my truck got serviced today.

  • I decided to extend another quarter with Stampin Up and so my products have arrived. Yeah, fun times in the studio to be coming along soon. I also borrowed one album from home so I could scan some photos of me as a child so I can scrapbook for my BOM.
