Three Favorite Things
My Becky Higgins' Sketches 1 and 2 are very worn. Great resources for planning out layouts. Really appeal to me because I'm a simple scrapbooker that likes clean linear lines.

Have always always always loved buttons on my layouts. From day one, was my choice of embellishment.

This little xyron is fab; great for putting all those little Quickutz letters in to get adhesive put on the back. I have a larger one that I use mainly for when I journal on vellum and you don't see the adhesive behind.

A picture challenge from a friend's blog. Click on your picture file on your computer. Pick the 5th folder. Pick the 5th picture in the folder and place on your blog. Well..... this is the fourth picture because the 5th was of my daughter and her new boyfriend and I don't know how crazy he'd be if he was blogged. So here's my new flannel sheets everyone!
- I miss my dad so much. Every day I want to call and tell him something, ask him something. Every day seems harder than the last. Crying out of the blue, hits me our of no where. Scared about going back to work in a week. I keep asking myself, what would Pappa want me to do?
- Sleep is horrendous. I feel like I am condemned to a life of lousy sleep. The past few days I've just stayed in bed, as I only sleep a few hours at a time, up for a few hours, sleep for an hour, up for a few hours, sleep for a few hours, etc etc etc. Last night I slept for six hours straight and that hasn't happened in a long time. I know, I would be a totally different person if I had slept 8 hours straight, every night. How do I get that???
- I've been very slowly working on a layout about our last Christmas. I want it to be just right. Also have selected papers and printed up pictures and found layouts I want to do with them, all stacked, ready to go. I want to get back to my scrapbooking roots and really preserve the memories and try not to get all wrapped up in "does this colour match", etc.
- No dog yet for me. Looking. Ironic, when you watch tv and see that SPCA commercial over and over again, yet when you phone the shelters and animal control, there aren't that many animals. Not what I'm looking for anyways. I miss Gunnar so much. I know that I can never replace him but I believe I have room in my heart for another furry friend.
- Dreaming about Las Vegas. I have it in my head that I'd like to take my mom and my daughter. Three generations in Vegas. Can you imagine?
Here is my super pretty pink sewing machine that I got from my parents at Christmas. They had asked in November for a wish list and this was one of the things on the list, which I then promptly forgot about. So on Christmas eve, everyone was handed out their gifts and I was enjoying watching everyone opening theirs and Mamma said to me, that box is for you. I hadn't noticed it and was surprised and when I opened it, they said the expression on my face was priceless. I was so excited! Mamma just told me last night, that Pappa ordered it for me himself. :)
“Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark, in the hopeless swamps of the approximate, the not-quite, the not-yet, the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish, in lonely frustration for the life you deserved, but have never been able to reach. Check your road and the nature of your battle. The world you desired can be won. It exists, it is real, it is possible, it is yours.” —Ayn Rand (1905-1982); novelist, screenwriter, playwright

- I absolutely *heart* Stampin Up's new Raspberry Tart designer paper. Several packages are a MUST have.
- I cut up 2 of my 3 credit cards. Now to start the process of paying them down. Plan to get Suzi Orman's latest book.
- Adopting a dog from the SPCA and/or shelters is proving to be fairly difficult.
- Got some new red/white flannel sheets that are going on the bed tonight, with a new white duvet cover that is 1200 thread count!
- I think I have found a lady to clean my house.
- I can't find my Becky Higgins' Sketch 2 book and it's driving me nuts. Teach me for letting the house go to the dogs.
- No, I don't have a dog, that's just a saying. My house is a disaster. But hey, I did empty the dishwasher today and I'm going around collecting the garbage and will take it out tonight. Baby steps, baby steps.
- I am so exhausted I nap in the morning and I nap in the afternoon.

Three favorite products of the week
Ali Edwards on a regular basis posts favorite products she likes/uses. I thought I'd do something like that, to bring back the scrapbooking/stamping spin to my blog.

I love Scenic Route's chipboard alphabets for the size, the colours, the reasonable price. And the red ones are so nice and glossy

I have fallen in love with Quickutz's latest invention; a 4x8 completely alphabet set on just one die, that works with the Revolution and it's longer platform. Awesome!

I used to use a popular tab dispenser for many many years but found that it just didn't hold any of my projects together. Everything in my albums have come apart, and I am not impressed. Someone recommended this adhesive and it's a bit tricky to work with, but it ADHERES and is well prices, so it's all I use now.

Neil Gaiman : I hope you will have a wonderful year, that you'll dream dangerously and outrageously, that you'll make something that didn't exist before you made it, that you will be loved and that you will be liked, and that you will have people to love and to like in return. And, most importantly (because I think there should be more kindness and more wisdom in the world right now), that you will, when you need to be, be wise, and that you will always be kind.

wonder if this would make me "cool" in my daughter's eyes?
You Are a Monroe Piercing |
![]() You are glamourous, sophisticated, and very classy. You're the type to think carefully before getting any sort piercing or tattoo. You are naturally charming. People find you to be very alluring. Your manners are impeccable, and you always have something witty to say. While you look like you're high maintenance, you have simple tastes. You're a homebody who often rather curl up with a book than go out. |
Your Word is "Hope" |
![]() You see life as an opportunity for learning, growth, and bringing out the best in others. No matter how bad things get, you always have at least a glimmer of optimism. You are accepting and forgiving. You encourage those who have wronged you to turn over a new leaf. And while there is a lot of ugliness in the world, you believe that almost no one is beyond redemption. |

- I'm off for a month and my mom suggested to me that it might be the perfect time to bring a new dog into my life. So later this week, I may head down the valley, depending on weather, to check out some SPCAs. I'd very much like to rescue a dog. Older puppy/young adult. Big dog. Prefer a male, I think. I miss Gunnar very much, and no animal will replace him in my heart, but I have room to love another.
- I made some Thank You cards the other day. The pictures I took of them didn't do them justice so I'll have to retry that again. I've been putzing in the studio. It's a mess, as always. Today I re did the stamp display. It sure is a lovely addition to the studio, thanks to my g/f "L". I put up flowers and inspirational words/quotes.
- my daughter has gone back to university. I miss her already, even though when she's home, she isn't here very much. I feel bad that she didn't have the best of holidays, but it was out of my hands.
- Not coping so well. It will be a week tomorrow. I have had so many phone calls and emails and I appreciate them SO MUCH. I just don't want to talk to anyone. I feel empty, drained, devastated. Worry I didn't say everything I wanted to say to him. Hope that he's at peace. He was so anxious the last few months. I am so thankful he went in his sleep and didn't die gasping for every breathe. So thankful for that. Worried about going back to work; I'm afraid that every lung cancer, every SOB patient, will become my father and I'll fall apart. And I can't do that to my patients.
- My computer is making me nuts. It's very much time for a new one. Don't really have the money for it, but I don't know how much more I can take. It's so slow. And I just had new RAM installed a month or so ago. Like to get a laptop and go wireless. Can't you just see me sitting in bed in my flannel pjs, chatting on msn and checking out facebook and my favorite blogs?

Ideas for an exceptional new year....
1.Take a 10-30 minute walk every day. And while you walk, smile. It is the ultimate anti-depressant.
2.Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day. Buy a lock if you must. Buy a TiVo (DVR), tape your late night shows and get more sleep.
3.When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement, "My purpose is to__________ today."
4.Live with the 3 E's -- Energy, Enthusiasm, and Empathy.
5.Watch more movies, play more games and read more books than you did in 2008.

Happy New Year! I wish for you health and happiness for 2009!
The past few year's I have followed a favorite scrapbooker, Ali Edwards, who chooses a word to "live by" each year. In 2007 I chose LIVE, for 2008 I chose JOURNEY and for 2009, I have decided to go with PEACE. I desperately need some peace in my life.
